Yes. Each brings 10–15+ years of private practice experience. This is not an AI service. A real, practicing dentist personally walks through every set of records.
Is this the same as getting a clinical second opinion? ▾
No — and that distinction matters. This is an educational service. A licensed dentist explains what your existing records show and helps you understand your treatment plan in plain language. This is not a clinical examination, a diagnosis, or a formal professional opinion. No dentist-patient relationship is created. For a clinical second opinion, you would need an in-person examination with a treating dentist.
How do I get my X-rays from my dentist? ▾
You have a legal right to your own dental records. Simply call your dental office and request copies of your X-rays and treatment plan. Most offices will provide them same-day or within 24 hours, often free of charge or for a small administrative fee.
Is my information private and HIPAA-compliant? ▾
Absolutely. All file uploads and storage are handled through HIPAA-compliant infrastructure via Spruce Health. Your records are used solely to complete your educational explanation and are never shared with third parties, advertisers, or insurance companies.
What if I have a dental emergency? ▾
This service is not designed for emergencies. If you are in significant pain, have swelling, difficulty swallowing, or suspect an abscess, please contact a dentist or urgent care clinic immediately. Our 48-hour turnaround is not appropriate for emergency situations.
What will I actually receive? ▾
You'll receive a personalized video (3–7 minutes) where a dentist walks through your actual X-rays and treatment plan in plain language — explaining what the images show and what the recommended treatment involves. You'll also receive a written summary with suggested questions to bring back to your treating dentist. Complex and implant plans include a written breakdown of the treatment components.
What if I don't have X-rays yet? ▾
X-rays are essential for most explanations. If all you have is a written treatment estimate, we may be able to provide a limited walkthrough — but we'll always tell you upfront if the records provided aren't sufficient to give you a meaningful explanation.
Do you accept insurance? ▾
We do not currently bill insurance. Payment is out-of-pocket and due at time of submission. Many patients find this worthwhile for the peace of mind it provides before committing to significant dental treatment.
How long does my explanation take? ▾
Standard explanations are delivered within 48 hours of receiving your records. Complex Plan explanations are prioritized for 24-hour delivery. You'll receive an email confirmation when your records are received, and another when your explanation is ready. If we need anything additional, we'll reach out promptly.
